Susan Leavy is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCD. She is currently working on a project exploring the bio-politics of disease and migration using AI supported analysis of texts from the 17th and 18th centuries. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, where her work concerned detection of gender bias in media coverage of Irish politicians employing machine learning and natural language processing techniques. She holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Edinburgh University, an MPhil in Gender and Women's studies from Trinity College Dublin and a BA in Philosophy and English Literature. She also worked internationally in the Investment Banking sector in the design and development of trading systems.
