Patrick Slevin
Patrick is an anthropologist by trade having completed his BA. in Anthropology and Geography at NUI Maynooth. He then continued his studies at Maynooth with a two year research Masters in Medical Anthropology. He has a strong background in qualitative research mainly context-specific ethnographic deep dives. He has worked in the realm of healthcare technology since 2012. This has involved working as a user experience and user researcher.
Patrick’s passion lies at the nexus between empathy and design. He has had much success in the generation of empathetic insights to inform product ideation and commercialization across a wide spectrum of industries from pharmaceuticals to medical device manufacturers. Patrick also lectures in the Department of Design Innovation at Maynooth University where he is module coordinator for the Design Ethnography curse at both undergrad and MSc levels.
In 2016, he received a scholarship to undertake a PhD at the Insight centre for Data Analytics where he explores the area of digital health and patient generated health data in COPD.
His main research interests (and loves) are technology, health, health data, user-research, healthcare, and human centered design, and endeavors to pursue cross-disciplinary research as much as possible.
