I am Ihab Farah Khalil Salawdeh, PhD researcher at Data Science Institute (DSI), National University of Ireland Galway. My PhD Thesis is about using advanced machine learning and deep learning models to classify and verify social media text and images. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from An-Najah National University, Palestine and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain.
I have taught and worked on research of distributed and high performance computing in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain (UAB) for five years. Furthermore, I have more than ten years of professional experience. My responsibilities in the private sector have spanned the entire range of requirements for IT projects as IT director, system analyst, developer, and IT quality manager. As a result of working in different places, I had the opportunity to employ the latest techniques, materials and procedures ensuring the highest standards and that the needs of clients are met.
I taught many courses in computer science. This has allowed me to develop the communication skills required to explain complex subject matters. I have presented at numerous international peer-reviewed conferences, which have provided me with the opportunity to explain intricate concepts to diverse audiences.
I am engaged in many public activities, to promote technology and research to the general public, promote STEM for girls and public schools students. Currently, I am leading the Green Screen initiative at DSI to promote research and science through social media.
